Getting Your Gutter Guard Installed

What should you know about your gutter guard installer?

OK – that the tradesman actually getting on the roof to install your ‘ski slope’ gutter guard is arguably the most important link in the chain.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that just like gutter guards, the abilities of gutter guard installers can and does vary widely.
Good installers (ideally roofers) come with knowledge and experience, focus on the job and are neat & tidy in operation – they’re also licensed and insured, or should be.
It’s a truism to say that not all are created equal, so the status and ability of your designated installer should be confirmed in advance.
After all, you don’t want an uninsured newbie experimenting on your gutters.

Do you need Council approval or vetting for your gutter guard installation?

No – but across Sydney, Councils now require that the guttermesh utilised in NEW construction in areas designated ‘Bushfire Prone’ does meet the improved Australian Standard for non-flammability.

How long should your ‘ski slope’ gutter guard last?

For a long, long time – barring an accident caused by a human agency or the intervention of a natural phenomenon. Modern gutter guard materials are chosen for their imperviousness to weather. Components made of colorbond steel, aluminum, premium HDPE – as well as tek screws and roofing silicone – are all rated to last 20 + years.
With a modicum of maintenance, your installation should comfortably meet and even exceed that.

What’s it all going to cost?

With gutter guards, as with most things, the old saying holds true – you get what you pay for.
Prices range from inexpensive for virtually worthless ‘dollar’ mesh, to the overkill of some ‘customised’ eave gutter guards that reach upwards of $50 per linear meter.

However, a premium quality ‘full service’ guard can normally be supplied and fitted for $30 – $35 per linear meter depending on the complexity of the job.
Ultimately, the exact price of the installation will need to be determined in situ – which a reputable contractor, like Leafscreener, will be happy to do free of charge.

The Mayos

They (Leafscreener personnel) quickly fixed the problem.  I have found Leafscreener most efficient in keeping leaves and other materials from entering the gutters and blocking them.  I can thoroughly recommend the product and the installation team.   (Mr) R. A. Durham Pymble....
